Surname

Hilarious moment after Qurbana on Saturday at Holy Cross in Manhattan, NY (more on that in a bit):

Aju Achen had asked the few that had assembled for nominations for people who can serve on the committee. A nice gentleman named Alan had been nominated, and Tenny Thomas (who studied in the Gulf and England so has a heavy British accent) asked the person what is his surname

(For those not familiar with British English, a person's surname is the same as last name in the US)

For a moment Alan just sat with a confused looked, trying to digest what Tenny was asking ... and then someone said "he meant 'last name'". Laughter broke out, and Alan said that he was about to respond "Sir Alan" thinking Tenny was asking his Sir-Name :)

OK, so not so funny blogging that .. but was hilarious at the time :)
