Some positives from the General Body Meeting
Ok, I do feel better now. Sleep and a long discussion with our Achens make all that possible. Some good points from the meeting that I wanted to share:
- Many from the older generation are very supportive - discussions after the meeting, as well as the uncles who helped me calm down ... that's the real core of the Church. The thirst for renewal of the spirit within the Church is not just felt by the 2nd generation, but by all areas of the community.
- Another uncle stepped forward and made the simple observation that a "Youth Minister" will not just help the youth, but will be invaluable asset for everybody.
- Another uncle gave examples of how financially it is not a burden for a church of 150+ families to support a youth minister. It's simple math after-all, which I guess is out of scope for the back bench of the Church (OK, maybe still a little bit of bitterness still remains).
The best part though was how the meeting ended ... one of the elder uncles came forward, and made a strong statement that all current and former members of the committee MUST be the role models of the Church. He in particular attacked the coffee breaks taken during the Qurbana, and made simple observation that this was the most special time in the Church.
Again, the irritation and frustration lies not only within this generation ... God willing, we can do something about this soon.
